Columbus Day Discoveries

I wondered if we would get an email from Matt yesterday due to the 'holiday' -- which, for those of us who aren't in school or work for the gov't don't get to take advantage of.....

But the good news is YES!  We were able to get a quick email from Elder Blakemore!

Hello everybody!  Guess what Columbus Day means... it's P-day and all the libraries are closed.  haha.  So I am emailing at a member's house today... which means I have to keep this one short.

My companion is CRAZY!  Most of the time he is immature but he is like that because he chooses to be.  He knows how to be mellow, but he likes to be crazy most of the time.  As a result, my patience and love is being tried and increased.  One thing that I love about him is that he goes through trials with a smile.  I am trying to look for the blessings in the trials and what has happened is that I have become more dependant on my Heavenly Father and I have become more grateful to him for those trials.  Which leads to my favorite scripture, Mom:  Ether 12:27 "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness.  I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them."

I am learning that humility is one of the most important traits we need to develop.  When we are humble, we realize that our Heavenly Father is right ALWAYS and that we need to ALWAYS obey.  As a result, we give up our will to God and let him shape us how he wants us to be.  Well, that's about all for me.  Thank you all so much for your birthday wishes and cards.  I love you all.

I always love his insights.
