Prepare; It's all about the attitude

October 27, 2010

Hi family!  This week is temple week and so P-day is on Wednesday.  I am always impressed with the Spirit that comes from going to the temple.  It is motivating.
I don't have much time today to write.  It has been a long week and a half.  We are finally back rolling at the pace that we were at when we got sick.  We have gotten back in contact with investigators and back into a routine with them and everything is going well.  We are teaching 3 kids right now, the 2 oldest of which are going to be baptized on Nov. 19th.  I'm very excited for them.
Thats all from me.  I love you all.

Wow, so my home ward is now the Minter Creek Ward.  I'm not going back to good ol' Key Center?!?!  Remember when they were talking about all of that when I was a teenager?  Remember I told you that I would rebel if they split the ward before I was "all grown up"... or something like that?  Well, I guess that now I don't have to.  That is sad though that Bishop Monson got released.  I really liked him.  He was always very nice and willing to help me.  Whether it was that I wanted to squeeze in an institute class before I went home from TCC or helping me out otherwise, he was awesome.

Well this week wasn't too eventful.  no new updates on our investigators that are going to be baptized... except that they still want to.  Today we should be getting some new investigators.  This lady wants her kids to be baptized, so that will be pretty fun.

We had to ward halloween parties this weekend.  The Aliante ward had us help out with some games.  My game was probably the most popular of the night.  I had a Nerf gun and the kids were supposed to shoot down the plastic bottles.  I was scrambling all over the place picking up darts, helping the little kids shoot the gun, picking up bottles... and there was a 10 kid line almost the whole time.  I looked once and there were like 2 kids in line and I thought to myself, maybe I will get a break for a few seconds, and before I could complete my thought, 4 kids showed up and got in line.  haha.  It was pretty fun.  I hadn't eaten though, so after we were done, I went over and ate like 4 corndogs a thing of nachos and a churro.  I was SOOO hungry.  Meanwhile, my companion at the game next to me was just watching and laughing at me.  His game was not nearly as popular as mine, which I was kinda jealous about.  Some kids liked it so much that they came back 3 or 4 times.  It was fun though.  We went and got ice cream afterwards.  The Waterfall ward's party wasn't nearly as fun, but that's ok.

This week I have been studying about repentance and the atonement.  It has been so eye-opening to me!  I've learned a lot of things that I might have known before but have sunk deeper than they had before.  I love the Gospel.  It gives so much peace.  I've also learned that Sacrament Meeting is a great place to learn spiritual truth no matter what the speaker is talking about if you go in with the right attitude.  If you sincerely make and keep that sacramental covenant with Heavenly Father, he WILL honor his promise and send His Spirit, which will teach us things that can help us in our lives.  I encourage everybody when they partake of the sacrament to truly remember Jesus Christ and promise to Heavenly Father that you are willing to take upon yourself the name of Christ and keep his commandments.  The deep meanings behind this weekly ordinance are amazing and some things can only be taught by the Holy Ghost as you contemplate that atonement of Jesus Christ which is the most important doctrine in the universe.  And all this can happen in a plain old Sacrament Meeting that you have been to every week of your whole life.  It is amazing.  The Gospel is truly wonderful and meaningful especially if we just think a little bit deeper about the plans that Heavenly Father has for each of us, his beloved children.  I love it.  And I love him.

I love you all and I hope everybody is doing just swell.  Remember to go to Church and think a little bit deeper in Sacrament meeting.  Maybe even prepare a little bit and take some extra time to read your scriptures before going to Church.  That will help.  I love you all.
