My eyes! MY EYES!!!

Matt's email from this week:

So a lot of weird things happened this week.  Our apt. got foreclosed on, which is ok because we don't like it anyway.  It's pretty nappy.  We will hopefully move into another apartment complex nearby that is brand new and cheaper than the apartment that we were renting.  Hopefully we move in with some other missionaries who rent an apt. in the same complex as us.

A few days ago, we went to visit a less-active family that we visit a lot.  We went and knocked on the door and the Mom answered.  She was getting ready for work (she is a cocktail waitress at the Luxor) and she had her uniform on which basically made her boobs pop out without showing her nipples.  We were like... uhhh, we'll come back later ok?  so we left and came back later.  When we came back, it was her 18 year old kid and his girlfriend (who is mormon, but only goes to church to make her Mom happy) and the two 11-year-old twins at home.  So we go in and we turn the corner and there were boobs like all over the TV screen.  They were watching the new American Pie movie (unrated version) WITH THE TWINS!!!  What the freak?!?!  So we are like in the kitchen facing the other way, and Zach (18 year old) is inviting us to sit down and we're like, umm no.  And then the girlfriend pipes up and says, "They aren't supposed to watch this."  Oh really?!?!  Maybe you shouldn't be watching this either!   Especially with 11-year-olds!  Zach says, "Oh."  and pauses it (It was On Demand).  And then he decides to rewind it to make sure that he didn't miss anything when he went to answer the door.  So we have to like turn away again to make sure that we don't see anything else.  Oh my goodness.  He finally turns it off until we leave.  After all that was over, we told the twins to go read their scriptures (we challenged them a chapter per night in January) and talked to Zach and his gf for a little bit and then left.  It was the weirdest day at their house ever.  We go over there because Zach used to be way anti- because of his Dad and now he has a lot of questions that he doesn't necessarily want to ask his mom because she'll turn it into an argument.  They are really cool people... most of the time, haha.

So we go over a couple days later and it's just Zach and the twins.  We're there for awhile and all of a sudden Zach grabs his gun (which he has on him at all times... weird) and goes out the front door.  We hear this lady yelling and Zach is talking to them, but we don't know what they are saying.  The twins kinda snuck up to the door and looked out and came back and said that they thought it was his gf's Mom.  Great.  So now we are stuck inside because we don't want some angry Mormon Mom who doesn't have her head on straight to go and tell President that we come over all the time and watch bad movies with them.  Then all hell would break loose and we would get sent home for doing nothing.  So it's time for us to leave and they are still outside.  His gf calls his cell phone which is still inside and the twins answer.  Turns out it isn't her Mom so we are safe to leave.  Holy crapola!  It was soooo weird.

New Years was uneventful.  We stayed up until 12, watched the fireworks from our balcony and then Elder Redden and some other missionaries talked about how close they are to going home to try and make me jealous or trunky or something and then we went to bed.

I've been struggling to wake up on time for a few months and today I got up and stayed awake the whole time.  Hooray for me!  I've gotten closer and closer for a few weeks to my goal of getting up on time every day.  I think I can do it now.  I can feel a big change in my mission just around the corner and this is trying to hold me back.  If I can conquer my weakness of sleeping in when I'm tired, then I can do anything.   Thanks for the prayers Mom.

Well, that's about it for now.  Remember to send stuff to the mission office, not my apt. address.  Thanks.  I love you all.  We have the greatest family in the world.
