Last week we had an investigator in church and the gospel principles teacher was not there so the members that brought her assumed that we wouldn't have the class and took her to gospel doctrine... sketchy. I was kind of annoyed. I would have taught the gospel principles class and in fact we were going to try to so that we could meet our 20 lesson goal. I was scared because gospel doctrine gets pretty deep, especially for investigators. The lesson was about Abraham and Isaac. I was praying almost the whole lesson. I think a lot of it went over her head, but I don't know cuz we were on the other side of the room. Something cool though is that the place where Abraham made the offering was at Golgotha, which is where Christ made his offering for the world. Oh, and something else. Earlier in Sacrament meeting, someone was talking about Heavenly Mother. Grrrr. I wish people would just keep it simple.
This week was a lot slower. Not very many lessons at all. But something awesome happened yesterday. The Relief Society 1st Counselor, Sis. Stewart, was making visits to a 20 year-old sister who had just shown up on the list, Krystin. They talked for a while and then Sis. Stewart asked Krystin if she wanted visiting teachers and she piped up and said, "Actually, do you have missionaries in this area?" She said yes and then the non-member Mom pipes up and wants her other 2 sons (both non-members and baptism age) to be involved with scouts. Sis. Stewart said that there was like a light shining down from heaven. The first thing she did was call our ward mission leader and he called us. We went over there and they were about to leave, but we talked to them for a couple minutes and Krystin mentioned that they just moved in and before they moved, the missionaries had been coming over and teaching her 2 younger bros. because they wanted to be baptized. We said, "Oh, cool. When can we come back?" (All nonchalantly, but inside we were saying, "YES!!!!!!!") They said tomorrow and then the mom who was in the background asked us, "Before you go, can you pray with us?" We said, "Of course." And we prayed. Then the Mom as we were walking out the door, she asked, "Also, when you come back tomorrow, can you give me a blessing?" By this time I was almost speachless but I said, "We would love to." We were confused and excited as we walked back to the car and once we both got inside, I screamed at the top of my lungs, "YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !" It was one of the best feelings of my life. It felt like teaching and committing an investigator to baptism except x3 and all squished into 2 minutes of conversation. I am so grateful for the ward fast. We are seeing miracles.
A couple weeks ago, we tracted into a 16 year-old girl named Tiffany. She said that she had mormon friends at school and she said that it would be cool if we could come back and she said she would ask her parents. So we thought, "Well, we'll stop by again, but the parents will probably say no." So we stopped by again last week and the Mom (Tami) aswered this time and said that Tiffany was sick with Mono but Tami said she has mormon friends at work and it would be cool if we came back to teach. The husband was upstairs and listening to our conversation and kinda making jokes about their mormon friends, but they weren't really the sarcastic type that unreceptive Dads usually make so I'm praying that he'll be receptive too! A whole family!! And it's before my year mark! I want to see a family through the temple so badly. That would be such a cool experience. We're seeing them tomorrow night. We also have some promising people that some members are working with and I think that the fast will help them too. If we stepped back and looked at the bigger picture through God's eyes, I bet that he has been preparing these people far before we ever got here or even before it entered President's mind to transfer us here. If we are worthy and willing servants, God's plan all fits together like a puzzle, piece by piece. It's fun being one of the pieces and watching everything fall into place around me: the right companion, the right area, the right people, the right time; everything.
Today, we had P-day activity in the morning, that's why I'm writing so late. I don't know if this will be a new thing with our Zone Leaders or what, but I'm not sure if I like it or if I don't. It's just different. Anyway, that's about all. I love all of you.
