Workin' Hard

February 22, 2011
Well I can't think of anything exciting that happened this past week in terms of actual missionary work.  Just one of those weeks that wasn't bad at all, but it wasn't spectaular either.  Something spectacular did happen on Sunday but it didn't have to do with any of our work.  The south part of our mission all gathered at a stake center and we were able to hear from Elder Claudio R. M. Costa from the Presidency of the Seventy.  It was very last minute... we didn't even know that it was going to happen until last Tuesday or Wednesday.  Listening to him speak was so great.  He is a convert to the Church and so is his wife.  I was thinking to myself... I want a convert like him!  He is also the product of Sister missionaries which doesn't surprise me at all.  It was kind of a nice kick in the butt for all those Elders that don't like Sisters.  He talked about who we are as missionaries and as members of the latter-day Church.  We were all part of the noble and great ones that Abraham saw in the vision that he had.  He also talked about following the promptings of the Spirit and how we can have precise revelation if we live worthy of it.  His wife told us that she represented all of our mothers and she expected us to be the best that we can be and that we should always be happy to serve and that we should love everyone and that we should be obedient and clean and... etc.  So thank you Mom for all the advice that you gave me on Sunday.  She is an amazing woman and an extremely Christlike person.

We have 2 baptisms coming up in a couple weeks.  One is a 15 year-old girl and the other is a 32 year-old man (unrelated).  They are both great and I have loved being able to teach them.

We had district meeting today and President Black showed up.  He didn't come to my district meeting but he came to the opening exercizes portion with the whole zone.  He didn't stay for any of the individual meetings though.  That was kind of a relief.  I would have been super nervous to have him there for my district meeting.  It ended up being a good meeting though, especially because my district had most of the comments and I just led a discussion.

Well that is about it for now.  I hope everybody had a good 3 day weekend yesterday.  I know that the gospel is really true.  I know it is "the power of God unto salvation" as Paul told the Romans.  I have faith that everybody will receive the gospel at some point and "many if not all will be saved in the Kingdom of Heaven" as Nephi said in 2 Nephi 33:12.  I love who I represent and I hope that one day I can become as He is.
