We got an email from Matt yesterday!
He seems to be in good spirits. Here is an edited snippet of what he has said about his experience so far:
The first week here at the MTC has been great. It is a little different than I expected, but it has been grand. I have learned so much in such a short time. The first couple days were kinda tough, but I've gotten used to it. There are so many classes! I have 2 teachers here. They are so awesome. I love them. My companion is Elder Hubbard. He's 23 but he's a great guy. We get along pretty well. I found Elder Cordy. He can speak Spanish soooo well! He's great. I see him at almost every meal and I actually saw him just 5 minutes ago.
Speaking of meals though, the food here is... not the best. Not bad... but not the best. I used to think that I had a stomach like a rock but the food on Sunday put it to the test... that's all i'll say. Today though, we went to the temple and had breakfast there and it was delicious to the taste and very desirable. I know that those cooks get a lot of blessings... at least they did from my prayers today. Haha.In order to use DearElder, you need to know Matt's Mailbox # and estimated departure date. They are as follows:
OH! Elder Peterson has gotten either a package or a letter every day since he's been here! The esiest way to write me a letter while I'm at the MTC is through dearelder.com. They just print it out and put it in my box! So simple! So in addition to your emails, which I can only read once a week, please send me letters so that I can get through till next Tuesday and still feel loved. =)
All that aside, I love the MTC. The spirit here is so strong all the time. I know that we are doing the Lord's work, even here. "Whom the Lord calls, he qualifies." That is what he is doing with us here. Elder Hubbard and I have taught many lessons where the spirit was strong enough to make you cry... but i held it in. I invite you to come unto Christ. He is our savior if we accept him and repent. I know that Joseph Smith was called of God to restore the true church of Jesus Christ to the earth. I know that the power of prayer is real. God loves you and loves to answer prayers. He does it everyday here. I invite you to tell everybody you know about Jesus Christ and the restoration. As you do so, I promise that your testimony will grow exponentially. I love all of you. Write me please! :)

Est Departure Date: May 18th
Click on the link above and you will be taken to the homepage. You will see a drop-down menu next to the featured missionary photo. Choose Provo MTC - FREE then click Write a Letter. For the next week and a half, all the letters you write through DearElder will be FREE, since Matt will be at the MTC. Also, letters that you write and submit on DearElder will be delivered to him SAME DAY, as long as they are written before 12noon Mountain Time.
So get writing! There's no excuse. It's as easy as an email, but Matt will get a 'real' letter in the mail, which is much more fun and exciting. And in his case, more immediate since he can only check his email once a week!
So exciting to hear from him! Be sure to check back often for more Elder Blakemore updates!

I think I put the wrong departure date. I got the mailbox # right. I wonder if they'll deliver it?
