We recieved our 2nd email from Matt yesterday. He's only been in the MTC for 2 weeks now, but it seems as if he has learned and grown so much already! Here is a snippet of his email:
Well, here I am on my second P-day. (preparation day) A lot has happened since I emailed last. I have been learning sooo much. My teachers are great. We teach some kind of lesson to somebody almost every day. Elder Hubbard and I are getting pretty good at teaching together. We work with each other really well.
Every tuesday night, we hear from a general authority of the church. It so happened that we got here just in time to hear from an apostle!! Elder Ballard spoke to us about our desire and that a missionary can't do anything without a desire. It was soooo awesome. I sang in the choir that night so I could see really well. He made so many good points and i took like 2 1/2 pages of notes. haha. And I never take notes!! Or at least I used to not to. He challenged us to pray every night for a desire to invite people to receive the blessings that come from the gospel. I've been doing that and my testimony has grown sooo much in the last week. I don't know who is coming to speak to us tonight but I'm sure that it is going to be good no matter who it is. It'll probably be one of the seventy.
I either have a cold or I have allergies today. I bought some Benadryl and I totally took an hour nap. It knocked me out. geez. It was crazy. I started getting weaker and weaker and when we were finally done with laundry I told my comp. that I had to lie down for a few minutes. Turns out that a few meant 60+. Finally he woke me up and said that we should go email. I'm awake now and hopefully I'll be able to stay awake for tonight's fireside.
The district that came in a week before us left early this morning. It was sad last night saying goodbye to them. They were so cool. I really looked up to them. I feel like they were so much better than I could ever be and it makes me want to work as hard as I can so that I can be as good as them. it's crazy how fast you can make friends here. We all have a common goal and the things that annoy us about each other don't bother us as much because we are in such a spiritual atmosphere all the time. The Lord blesses his missionaries, even the ones in the MTC. haha.
Well I have less than a week left. I don't know when I'll be able to write again, but I leave on Monday. Don't dearelder me past friday or else i won't get it. Thank you to all that took the time to write this past week. I love you all. Pray for desire, it works.
-Elder Blakemore
We all have officially 3 days to write Matt a letter through DearElder. Remember that his Mailbox # is 199 and his estimated departure date is May 18th. Write to him! It's free! And most importantly, he will love it. As soon as we get his address in NV, I will update his blog so you can continue to write/send packages. :)
PS - Each post will accompany a picture of Matt. Until we get pics from him in the mission field, it will be pics of my choosing. :D
