After a 2 week hiatus, we finally heard from Matt! We all just happened to send him packages last week, so he was OBLIGATED to write after that! :) Sounds like he is doing well, keeping busy and positive. Here's what he had to say:
Hey, so I'm still alive. I got everybody's packages! They were amazing! Yesterday, I wasn't able to email because we stayed in Dayton and the library is closed on Mondays in Dayton. Today is District meeting so we are in Carson anyway and we skipped lunch so that we could email. A lot has been going on... Our investigator that was set to be baptized on the 25th fell through because her boss promised, in writing, to let her off work and then she went back on her word. So that was very disappointing. But we visited her last week and found out that she quit her job so that she could come to church. What amazing faith she has. "All the better to be baptized with." We are meeting her soon and will hopefully be able to baptize her before transfers come around again which we are thinking that one or both of us will be transferred this time because I am done training after this transfer. Her name is Tosh Dawson. Amazing woman.
We also have an investigator named Brad McClery who is planning on being baptized on the 1st. I have been able to be here for his whole investigating experience so this is very exciting to see him take these steps and it has been very exciting to see him grow in his faith. He has a LOT of questions and he is so humble about accepting our answers. We are just little kids and this 55 year old guy listens to us and accepts the answers we give without question. He is very knowledgeable in the Bible too. Despite his knowledge, he truly has "a broken heart and a contrite spirit". He is ready to be baptized.
We haven't met very many crazy people lately. But we did have !!!!8!!!! investigators at church 2 days ago! It was amazing. It wasn't anything we did either. Just a lot of prayers on their behalf. They all just decided to come to church. we also had 7 inactive members at church also. That is a grand total of 15 people that need to come to church!! Amazing. Heavenly Father answers prayers.
Thank you for all your rhymes and concern for me. I'm having a great time out here. Everybody stay happy for me. I love you.
