Miracles, Nano Copper, 8-Lane Highways

Another blog Twofer!  We got an email from Matt on Thursday of last week and also today!  So here's the 2-for-1 update.

Thursday 9/10:
A quick update from me.  Karen got baptized and I was able to confirm her in sacrament mtg.   The library in carson city was closed for labor day on monday so no email.  The library in Dayton was closed on tuesday for labor day (cuz it's usually closed on Mondays) so no email.  Wednesday was Zone Conference which was probably the best one I've been to yet... so no email.  Finally (thursday) i'm getting my email.  whew.

Something profound that I have learned.  All that our Heavenly Father wants us to do is to believe.  That was the purpose of all the miracles that Jesus did and that is the purpose of the commandments is to increase our faith as we obey.  As an illustration.  Jesus told the Roman Centurion to go his way because Jesus healed his servant (who was miles away at the time).  However when the blind man needed to be healed, he had to make some clay with his spit and anoint his eyes.  Why is that ?  He could have healed him with a thought or a word.  He anointed the man's eyes and told him to wash so that he could exercize his faith.  would he have been healed without washing?  No.  Because washing in the pool of siloam was part of the commandment from jesus.  he had to do something.  What is your mud in the eye that you need to wash in order to more fully believe?  Well that's all from me.  I love you.

Monday 9/14:
Well, since I wrote on thursday, nothing much has happened.  We set a guy Esteban with a date for baptism on October 17th.  I really hope that I stay here for that.  That would be awesome.  Transfer calls are on Saturday night so I will find out and will be able to tell you about it next time.  If I stay, then I would be in Dayton for 6 months!!  That's a whole quarter of my mission!  Weird.  It goes by so fast.  I hope that I stay so much!

Tami brought up a good point.  I almost (almost) forgot that my birthday is coming up!  I would really like some talks on CD like by John Bytheway or something like that.  Some good EFY music or something like that would be cool too.  Other than that, no requests other than don't send me food!  I have gained 10 lbs. on my mission so far!!  This is the first time I have gained weight in my life and I feel fat.  I'm trying to start running every other day, but we've only done it once.  6:30 is early to do physical activity.  Good job to Emily for being able to make herself exercise in the morning.  I'm also doing a lot of push-ups and sit-ups and such so that any more weight that I gain, I can feel somewhat good about.

Oh, I'm going to start writing my own personal Book of Mormon.  It's going to be cool.  I am not good at writing in my journal so maybe this will be a way to keep things interesting and fun.

Speaking of the Book of Mormon, there is a guy here named Larry Rogers that I think I told you about before.  We visit him probably once every other week.  He flew copters in vietnam, he is a chemical engineer and is licensed to produce anthrax commercially, he has his own geothermal plant, he is helping design the freedom ship which is a floating city (look it up).  He has also helped with some meso-american digs in the yucatan like 20 years ago.  There is a city that they have only uncovered about 5% of it, named Koba.  He was telling us about some different things that they have found such as fertility temples and things like that.  They also have carvings of elephants decorating their buildings and they have also found mummified horses.  Hmm, imagine that.  The Spanish didn't originally bring horses to America.  They also built the worlds 2nd largest reflective telescope using nano copper (copper that doesn't rust- we only figured out how to make it a few years ago).  It puts a whole new meaning when I read in the Book of Mormon, that "God prospered them in the land."  Physical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true.  I love it.  What kind of technology did they have?!?!  they were definitely smarter than us though.  They have buildings that are locked together with 80 foot long stone rods that we have no idea how to build today.  They built 8 lane highways, etc.  The Mayans in the area attribute this all to the Mu dynasty which was during the Nephite times.  And we think that we are superior today.  Ha.  Just something to think about.

Anyway, I gotta go.  Thank you all for writing. :)
