The new Jack Mormon

This week went by quick!!  I don't even know what happened this week, it is such a blur.

Maybe I'll start with Sunday and go backwards.  Yesterday was an interesting Sunday.  Instead of having fast sunday before conference, this stake had fast sunday after conference, which meant it was yesterday.  So Jack, the investigator that we tracted into last week, wanted to come to church.  Previously in the week we had met with him and we taught him about the plan of salvation which he accepted very well.  The conversation somehow got around to the word of wisdom and so we taught him about that too.  He told us that he had started smoking again after years of having quit.  So we told him about his body being a temple and he said, "Oh, well that makes sense.  I only have 4 cigarettes left and after I'm done with those, I'm not going to have any more."  I was kinda shocked.  That was the easiest Word of Wisdom lesson I've ever had with somebody that actually has a problem with the word of wisdom.  And he wanted to come to church.  So Sunday rolled around and we went over to his house and he followed us to church.  It was fast Sunday, so as a missionary, you almost don't want investigators to come to church on that day.  Yesterday's testimony meeting was especially crazy.  So probably 70% of the testimonies were from people under the age of 5 and 90% under the age of 12.  I was praying practically the whole meeting that someone would get up there and save it.  I wanted to get up there to rescue the meeting and then Jack turned to us and said, "Maybe I should go up there."  We were like... "Uhhh, sure.  You can go up there if you want."  He said, "I don't know.  I'm really nervous."  We said, "Whatever you are comfortable with."  About 5 minutes later, he went up to the stand.  Then Elder Taylor went up.  And then I was thinking, "Well, now I'm all alone on the bench and if my investigator can go and bare his testimony then I need to go and bare my testimony."  So I went up there too.  Jack bore his testimony first and it was probably one of the best, if not the best testimony in the meeting.  He told everybody how when we showed up at his door, he was going through a rough time in his life and we showed up at just the right time.  When we taught, he said that he could feel the spirit and he believes what we teach him.  It was a pretty tough act to follow and I don't even know what I said in my testimony.  I was just amazed with how great of a person Jack is.  I'm glad to have met him.

We taught Colby and Brittany again last week, this time about the Plan.  We invited them to be baptized.  He is ready, she has to think about it a little more.  We are having dinner with them tonight.  When Brittany has her baby, we are planning on getting the RS involved with dinners and such.  So that will be good.  I think once they have the baby, her heart might be softened.

We typed out Julia's baptism program last night.  It turned out really good.  She likes it a lot.  She is going down on the 24th... The Saturday after transfers.  I might not be here to witness the first baptism in this area!  Hmm.  So that might be disappointing.  I have a feeling that I'll be going.  This happened right before I left Dayton too.  I don't know.

On the 29th, I'll have been out a year!  I even have a shirt that I want to burn.  The pocket is torn and I don't want to sew it back up because it would just look tacky.  I'm also thinking about ordering new shirts Mom.  I want the same shirts that I got from that one store though.  I think the guy said that he saved all my sizing info in the system.  My shirt size hasn't changed.

Umm, well that is all that I can think of right now.  I'm writing early because we might be playing frisbee golf with some members in the afternoon.  It is not for sure but hopefully we can.  Otherwise, it will be a very boring P-day.  My comp. would like it though... plenty of letter writing time for him.  Blah.  Anyway, that's about it.  I hope everybody had a good week.  I love you all.
