Battling the Mountain

August 30, 2010
This has been a very good week!  We set Josh with a date for baptism and we got a new investigator and commited her to baptism!  We are getting another new investigator today and we may or may not commit her to baptism.  When she came to church the one time, she was very positive, but she hasn't come to church since then so we will see.

Today we went up to "the bubble" with our ward mission leader.  It was pretty cool.  It's a weather station that sits on top of the tallest mountain surrounding the valley.  It was extremely cold this morning too.  We left our window open and I woke up at 5:00 and couldn't go back to sleep it was so cold.  I sat in the shower for like 40 minutes when I woke up.  Then it was at least 15 degrees colder up on the mountain.  Bro. Ostler's truck said that it was 40 degrees up there.  Brrr!  I'm going to be a wimp when I come home!  70 degree summers?!?!  Thats messed up!
Things are going well with Elder Lane.  He was pretty quiet for the first couple of days and then he started talking more.  He's doing good I think.  Battle Mountain is easy if you don't know anybody, but we'll see how he handles it when he has to take over the area.  I like him though.  He is a good missionary and we get along pretty well.  Ah Mu had a stronger personality and if I disagreed with something, I would have to argue with him which I don't like to do and I'm not good at it anyway.  I miss Ah Mu though.  He was a fun companion to have.
It's crazy how long I've been in Battle Mountain already.  It doesn't seem like I've been here that long.  Time seems to just disappear these days, which I'm resenting.  There have been a lot of changes in the mission lately and I'm isolated up here from most of it.  I got the whole scoop from Elder Lane what is going on in the rest of the world (world=Las Vegas).  Pretty crazy.
Well, like Tami, I don't have much to say.  I'm doing well.  I need to order a new jacket because I lost mine in Vegas.  Who knows where I will be when winter comes.  It seems like yesterday that Mom (and STEVE) was nagging me all the time about if I had a coat.  But I've got it COVERED this time, okay? :)
Luckily I saved all my pictures before I sent my card to Emily.  Whew!
I love you all!  Oh and thank you for the package Tamily!  :)  I have been enjoying it.  I haven't worn the tie yet.  I'll probably wear it to zone meeting or something.  I'm not too good at the balloon sculpting yet though.
Thanks everybody!  I love you!
